(Blender 3.4+)

  1. Make sure you have added a Clay Doh asset library. Not sure how? See this.

  2. Make sure that you have an object/ shape selected. Give it a Geometry Nodes modifier and make sure it is selected/ active (blue outline).

  3. Open an Asset Browser window. Click on the drop-down button at the top-left corner and select Clay Doh.

  4. The collection is divided into 3 catalogs. Use the arrow icon to toggle/ expand.

  5. Under the ‘Geometry Nodes’ catalog, you will find Clay Shape GN. Drag-n-drop it onto your Geometry Node Editor window.

  6. Finally, select the node that you just dropped. Right-click on it and select Ungroup.

  7. Now connect the Group Input node to the Mesh/ Vector input of the Clay Shape Node, as shown below.

  1. Finally, connect the Geometry output of our Clay Shape Node to the Geometry input of the Group Output node.

These are the “Clay Shape Node” parameters:

  1. Mesh/Vector: Make sure that this input is connected to the ‘Geometry’ output of the Group Input node.

  2. Extrude: Controls the “thickness” of the shape.

  3. Crease: Controls how smooth or crisp the edges of the shape are.

(Relative to the ‘Extrude’ thickness)

  1. Subdivision Level: The number of subdivisions to apply to the shape geometry.

NOTE: Keep this value as low as possible. Large values will make the geometry heavy.

  1. Merge By Distance: Merges mesh vertices within a given distance, merging surrounding geometry where necessary.

This value can be thought of as the maximum distance that can exist between any 2 vertices before they merge.
